The top was awarded by the Norwegian Trade Association's Golden Rooster

On Friday, the business community in Vefsn, Grane and Hattfjelldal gathered for the annual Goldilocks in Mosjøen. Gullhanen is hosted by Mosjøen Business Association. There was an industry conference during the day and a celebratory dinner with entertainment and awards ceremony in the evening.
And here Vefsn Folkehøgskole Toppen took off with Gullhanen itself, which we did not expect. Principal Mette Haustreis was very happy to take the rooster home on Valentine's Day itself.
The whole staff just walk around smiling and it's very stately to be noticed also locally. What does Principal Mette Haustreis think of the award, now that it's been a few days and she's been buzzing?
What does it mean for Vefsn Folkehøgskole Toppen to get Gullhanen?
This award was very big to get, because when we created the strategy for our anniversary year last year, increased visibility in the local environment was one of the objectives. We constantly meet people in Mosjøen who have never been to Toppen before and do not quite know what offer we have. In order for us to stand for another 125 years, we believe that we need to play on a team with the local community and create good synergies. Every year we contribute young adults from all over the world to Mosjøen, and we want to contribute to housing for the future. We therefore take advantage of all the good offers we have at Helgeland, and often use local actors when we need to buy expertise to give our students the best experiences. Here we can mention Backyard Culture, Spruce Hill Huskies, River North, Hallo Noord, Southern Sami Centre, and that's how we could hold on. The district has plenty of brilliant offerings.
Such an award shows that Vefsn Folkehøgskole Toppen has become clearer for the business community and then we have reached our goals for 2024 very well. We can essentially say that we have wrapped up our anniversary year with a gold bow tie.

Why do you think we got the Golden Rooster right now?
I think we were nominated because we've been visible, and maybe a little bit because we had an anniversary in 2024. We have been to business lunches and talked about our work, we have invited the chairmanship to us to talk about folk college pedagogy and external research, we have invited MON (Mosjøen og omegn Næringsforening) to Friday coffee to talk about ourselves, and that we have been very good at going to the media with issues we think should be highlighted.
The reason we received the award was:
“This year's winner has left its mark on the region for a number of years. It is a space where creativity, learning and community go hand in hand. Through commitment, inclusion, quality and an impressive staying ability, they have created a unique venue for young people from all over the country”.

About the price
The golden rooster should be a badge of honour awarded to a company or person who over time has made a positive mark in the region. The award will stimulate increased focus on quality in key competitive elements such as service, innovation, product development, staying power and expansion.
Up to 5 candidates are nominated, this time VEFSN FOLK HIGH SCHOOL TOP, CONTRACTOR TEAM AS, SHMIL, MOSJØEN FUNERAL HOME
and CULTURAL WORKSHOP. All very good candidates and it was by no means that we thought it was going to be us.
The prize consists of Gullhanen, diploma and visible proof to be put in the company's entrance hall. The winner will also be profiled on the trade association's website.
The award winner is obliged to front the prize throughout the year. The winner is also obliged to tell about the company and its success at one of the meeting venues of Mosjøen Næringsforening in the winning year.
Then all you have to do is find a nice place for the price, drive on with our great students and staff, and welcome new students for another 125 years! We thank all former employees and students who have helped raise awareness that Vefsn Folkehøgskole Toppen has great value, both as a school and as an active participant in the local environment.
