Live or let die — go on a trip, never sour

With the saying “Out on tour, never sour” as the motto, the Live or Let Die tour is one of the first things students on Vefsn Folk High School Toppen going loose on. It's amazing how many people keep their spirits up!
Courage, Mastery and Opportunity on Live or Let Die
At Toppen, we want students to experience courage, mastery and opportunity, so why not start with just that? Live or Let Die is a great way to challenge yourself. Despite its somewhat frightening name, Live or Let Die is about much more than just step outside the comfort zone. This trip is a journey filled with team building, community, laughter, new friends, and great memories.
Multiple levels
Although the tour is adapted to several levels, it is clearly a challenge. The students are divided into groups and driven out to different starting points in the surrounding area. From here they will go Herringen Bygdehus. It may sound somewhat relentless, but everything is well planned by the outdoor life teachers. Pupils bring equipment, food maps and compasses, and on the first night most of the groups sleep outside. The weather is as it is on Helgeland, so some people probably got a little wet on the trip.
Fellowship
We're not just in groups, because at the top are Community important. The second day we meet at the village house, where the chefs have prepared good food for tired hikers. We dry some clothes, enjoy ourselves around the fire, play Frisbee and have a sing-along. Worth mentioning is the popular kiosk, where students can get themselves long-awaited sweets and a taste of civilization.
Safe learners after Live or Let Die
After this trip we get back a safer litter of pupils. They've gotten to know each other better and, in addition, maybe they've learned a few things about teamwork, walking, and themselves. We have to say that this year's group is absolutely amazing, and there is every reason to look forward to the continuation.
