Ground rules

When so many people are going to live and live together, it is important that we have routines that ensure order and well-being for everyone. As a student at school, you have to take part in what it takes for us to have a good environment. Since school is supposed to be a drug-free venue, you will need to make a written agreement with the school to deal with it. Beyond that, we have relatively few rules. This is done so that the students themselves can help regulate life at school. However, the rules we have set are necessary norms and routines for the functioning of the school community.
We become like a big family where our actions and attitudes have consequences for others to a greater extent than otherwise, and we assume that you as a student actively contribute to a good environment.

School Basic Rules
- The school wants active participation. All teaching, assignments and events are compulsory and require 90% registered attendance.
- If, for any reason, you choose to spend the night away from the boarding school, you must inform the school's supervising teacher on duty. In the event of a longer planned absence, you must apply for leave.
- It should be night rest after 11 p.m.
- There is a smoking ban on school premises. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas.
- Any form of violence against fellow students or staff is not accepted. Including threats, harassment and bullying.
- It is not permitted to store any type of weapon on school grounds, except in the school's gun cabinet. This also includes stab guns, knives and the like.
- Damage caused to school property and equipment must be replaced.
- It is forbidden to use or store alcohol on school grounds. If you return to school after drinking alcohol, go straight to your own room.
- It is forbidden to use or store illicit drugs as long as you are a student at Vefsn Folkehøgskole.
According to the Law on Folk High Schools, Section 5, the school shall have a board, the Disciplinary Council, which deals with disciplinary matters. Violations of school rules will therefore be dealt with in the Disciplinary Board. The proceedings of the Disciplinary Board are governed by the rules of Chapters IV, V and VI of the Administrative Code.
Violation of the rules can result in a warning, expulsion from school for a period of time or expulsion for good.
Drug Prevention Measures in the School Community
Vefsn folk high school wants to have a drug-free environment. It means a lot to us. School should be a safe place to be for everyone. This is also crucial for us to be able to create a good school environment, achieve our goals and carry out the activities we want together with you. It is important that all of us, both students and staff, contribute to creating this peace of mind. As a student at Vefsn Folkehøgskole, we expect you to accept and respect the rules we have in place to protect the environment, the community and each individual student.
theres disallowed to store or drink alcohol on school grounds. If it is discovered that someone is storing alcohol within the grounds of the school, we reserve the right to seize this. If you return to school after you've been out drinking alcohol, go directly to your own room and adhere to the rule of night rest at 11pm.
At Vefsn Folkehøgskoles tours, classes, and events outside the school grounds, the rules regarding the use of alcohol apply. In connection with some line and international trips, separate agreements are also made between the learner and the line teacher.
It is not allowed to use or store narcotic substances of any kind while you are a student at the school. This also applies to drugs that the school is not aware of in advance that you need for medical treatment. As part of the school's work to foster and protect a drug-free environment, in the event of strong suspicion of the use of narcotic substances, we would ask the police for assistance in considering measures to confirm or deny the suspicion.
We also note that if you drop out or are expelled from school, you will have to pay tuition fees for six weeks beyond the end date. This rule is common to all folk colleges in Norway.
