With us, you can choose to take a half-year course if you prefer. Maybe your plans changed during the fall and you need something sensible to do until the summer. Maybe you're going in or out of the military in the middle of the school year, or starting higher education in January. Then half-year courses can be a good option.

Preparing for the First Time Service

The line for you as:

  • will be inside the defense after Christmas
  • want to prepare you for the first time service
  • will become tougher and more confident in yourself
  • want to get in better shape before recruit school
  • will expand your capacity under safe conditions and experience the community college life

About the line

In this half-year course, you will get physical and mental training, and you will get to practice staying taken with others.

When you're going into defense, a certain resilience is required, both mentally and physically. The defense recommends that you prepare, and that you give high priority to physical preparation and physical training -- LINK to the defense page. At the Top, we set up a targeted training program that enables you to cope with the physical demands of the defense.

Mosjøen is located in a home protection municipality and that is a great advantage. We have the opportunity to make use of fields of practice and expertise associated with Drevjamoen Camp, which is a base for training and rehearsing units of the Heimevernet. In addition, you will have the opportunity to get to know yourself better, live at a boarding school and experience folk college life. You get to fill up the experience account with experiences that will equip you mentally.

What do we do?

Helgeland is the perfect starting point for activity and exciting challenges. We are working with several local players to create a scheme on the line that is varied and exciting. For example, we can mention River North and Hi North. We also often hang out with the other active lines at school.

You will have an impact on how this semester turns out and how many things you get realized. We tailor your workouts based on your level and your need, and it will make you better equipped for first time service.

How does that work?

We have half-year courses on most lines, and if there are available seats you look at Folkehogskole.no. There you can also read more about the different lines. Most people on half-year courses follow instruction along with those students who attend grade level. Then it will be a little more together and more fun. You quickly become part of the gang when you are open to making new friends, and as a school we are committed to making sure everyone has a good time.

We want you to experience COURAGE, MASTERY and OPPORTUNITY when you are a student with us, and you can choose from many activities and electives in addition to your line subject.

Many who begin half-year classes in the fall choose to stay here for the rest of the school year. If you think that you will after you have started the autumn course, you must notify the school by October 15.

  • Spring courses 2026 start on 06.01.2026 (subject to change)

We admit students on an ongoing basis until the school fills up. Unfortunately, credits are not given for half-year courses at Folkehøgskole, but we can promise that you will have many meaningful months with you. You can read more about half-year courses on the pages News and Blog.

On this course you get the chance to experience a lot of action, many exciting rides and magnificent scenery. First of all, experience the nature in northern Norway.
