Successful Anniversary Celebration at the Top
Every time we meet, we have a good time.. Very good! Everything was right when we celebrated ourselves on Saturday, June 8. The weather, the atmosphere and the nice people were exactly what we wanted!
We had time to renovate three living rooms in the venerable Tower building before the guests arrived, and it was extra expensive to start with coffee labs there. Magne Pettersen and Stig Nilsen had many memories of their time at Toppen.
Our guests were former employees, former students, current employees, past and present representatives of the Board of Directors, representatives from Friends of the Top, as well as the Mayor. Many fine words were said and our story from 1899 to the present day was conveyed from different points of view and perspectives.
We thank Comfort Mosjøen, Vefsn Municipality and Friends of the Top for gifts and attention. We very much appreciate that.
It's always so nice to meet you again! And there were many generations and good age spread among the guests who attended the celebration. The oldest pupil was Åse Floa Steinrud (97 years old), who has always been an active participant in the local community and supported us all the years. It was an honor to have her as a guest during the celebration. She really is a great lady!
Our gift to the wonderful guests was of course cultural and Northern Norwegian. The Bodø Band LOVE was in the whole party from dinner to the end. The drummer, Fredrik Nordvik has been both a student and a fellow with us, and vocalist Aleksander Torsvik Emilsen has a mother who has gone with us. She was present, of course. The concert was absolutely amazing, as expected. After all, they played for the Queen earlier in the week.
Former pupil Åshild Sveen Gussgaard was a pupil at Vefsn Folkehøgskole Toppen in 19/20 and a fellow in 20/21. She is now pursuing primary school teacher training with arts and crafts as her master's degree.
At the Top, she had elective Knitting, among other subjects, and was really bitten by
bacillus! She was therefore commissioned to design a Toppen sweater on the occasion of the anniversary year.
The pattern is inspired by both modern and traditional knit sweaters, and the expression hopes she has a touch of both.
