In connection with the school this year celebrating its 125th anniversary, we had OPEN DAY at school on Saturday, October 19. In the gym we had flea markets and sold used clothes and other second-hand items.

In Benumstua and Storsalen, the students had created a café where people could have a coffee and enjoy the newly renovated room. The students also had Yona and Brage jazz concert for those who came.

In the main building was Friends of the Top present and briefed on the work they do for the school and how you can become a member of the association. Here was also Merete G. Tvenning and selling Gambian handicrafts to income for Gambia Care. It is a charitable organization that since 2013 has been raising money for development purposes in Gambia, and with which we have collaborated in recent years.

The money we got into the flea market and cafe we will take with us to Gambia when the fellows travel there in November. They are to go to buy more school supplies for Gambia Care's two schools, and stoves for neighborhood kitchens to prevent health-damaging fumes.

Vefsn Folkehøgskole transmitter Our Fellows down each year to help out, and gain a better understanding of both the culture and the work being done.

If you want to support this great project, you can tilt a penny to 83740 and mark “Peak to Gambia”
