Take with you
If you're not sure what to bring with you, that's not so strange. You're gonna be gone for a while. But keep in mind that you can take some with you when you're home for vacations, too. You may not need everything in place from day one.
Helgeland is known for a little alternating climate, so you need clothes for different types of weather. Bring proper outdoor clothing, footwear and rainwear. We are going on several joint tours, the first already in the opening week. Then hiking clothes You will need it from the first moment. There are also walks in winter, so anyone who has can bring ski/snowboard (this can also be done during the autumn or Christmas holidays). Also bring Workout clothes for indoor use.
It is often said that the folk college is a home and that home is a school. It is important to make sure to make this home so congenial and cozy as possible. Feel free to bring something you like to decorate your room. Otherwise, you'll get most of the stuff in town here. Talk to us before you hang up posters and pictures so we agree on how this should be done. Duvet, pillow and bedding You also need to bring.
The school has wifi, and fiber networks throughout the area. There is some limited space for having your own desktop in double rooms.
Due to cleanliness and hygiene, we do not want you to prepare food in the room. So leave the microwave, pizza oven, toaster iron and the like at home.

Practical Information
We have a kitchen adjacent to the student lounge that can be used if you want to cook yourself a snack. Here the principle of cleaning after oneself applies.
At school, you wash your clothes in a communal laundry room, which all students use. You can get detergent from us. You may want to label the clothes before you arrive so that they are not so easily mistaken.
It is not allowed to bring pets to school. Smoking only in designated places (including electric cigarettes). During the year there are teachings/events approximately every other Saturday and 4-5 Sundays.
The school is open until we lock at 11pm (until usual). It is almost a prerequisite for thriving at a folk high school that one knows how to take advantage of this opportunity. Some of the teaching rooms are occasionally rented out for courses and the like, but there is still good access in most rooms even outside regular teaching hours.
As a student at a folk high school, you have to take some responsibility for the community, both socially and practically. It also involves work on the tableware and kitchen/boarding service. In addition to these common duties, cleaning and order in your own room and bathroom/wc is of course your responsibility.
